When I launched my website in 2012 I wanted to write a regular blog. This week I looked back to see what I talked about in my first one. This is what I wrote:
“Tai Chi has transformed my life. The severe physical pain, loss of mobility, numbness in my feet and hands that I lived with for years, are gone.”
Through my blog I have focused on insights I have learned through my experience that can be helpful to Tai Chi students and non-students alike. The principles with Tai Chi that help us relax, improve balance, clear our minds, sleep better, etc. may help anybody who reads my blog. We never know when an “a-ha”, a new realization or idea that causes us to change our behavior, pay attention to our bodies and our overall well-being.
In my website bio, I briefly tell my story of transformation and mention that I’m working on my memoir. I hit a bit milestone earlier this year when I finished my manuscript. And now, another big milestone — I’ve signed a contract with a book publisher and will have a book published in the first quarter of 2022! I’m very excited about this, and I thank all my students who have been with me over the years. The main impetus for writing my book came from my students, who have said my story is not only inspirational, but it caused them to ‘do something, to get off the couch, out the door and come to my class.
My friends, this is a time to forward this to others, spread the word. We’ve been through such an unusual time over the last 18 months and it’s a good time to take a step, one step to enhance health. Tell friends about my new Tai Chi class starting in September on Tuesday evenings. No experience needed.
I will be writing more about my memoir in this space now that it is becoming a reality. Stay tuned.

Arlene – Congratulations on your signed book contract!! I am so excited for you reaching this milestone. I cannot wait to read your book and to share it with my family and friends. As a student of yours for almost five years, I have so appreciated your skills in teaching Tai Chi and making all students feel welcome wherever they are in their learning. That is what made me feel comfortable and able to persist even at the beginning when it seemed difficult to learn and remember the movements you were teaching. I look forward to reading your book and to learning more Tai Chi in your classes. Thanks for sharing your good energy with so many people!!
